I forgot to include my check; can I mail it in without the application?
If you should omit the fee when you submit your application, the Board office will return your application to you. When you receive your returned application, you can resubmit it at that time with the appropriate fees.
I am still in school; do I have to send my transcripts to you?
If you are attending school, please fill out the Letter of Good Standings and have the school send it to us. It must show your classification as a senior and your anticipated graduation date for your BS in the discipline of your major.
When do I send transcripts?
If you have graduate with your BS in Engineering, please have the school send us your final transcripts to the address on the Verification Education Release form. The BS transcripts must show graduation date and your award.
I have a transcript can I send it in?
No, it must come from the school you attended. Transcripts that we receive that are stamped “Issued to Student” or “ Student Pickup” will be considered invalid.
I did not attend or register with ELSES to take the examination, does that count as a failure?
No, if you do not show up, it is not counted as a failure. You have to attend the examination and fail it to constitute a fail attempt.
I never received my board approval card to register with ELSES. I would like you to switch that application to the next examination?
No, the $30.00 is a processing fee. Once we process the application, those fees were used. Please go to the website www.fbpe.org and download the Re-examination application and reapply.
I have failed 3 times, what do I do?
You need to complete an additional 12 semester credit hours of college level courses in your area of deficiency. For applicants to take Part I of the engineer examination, such additional courses shall be undergraduate college courses in higher mathematics, basic sciences or engineering as described in Rule 61G15-20.007(2)(a), (b), and (d)F.A.C Once you have completed these courses, you need to send in a re-examination application, $30.00, photo, and have the school send the transcripts showing your grades. Your file will be placed in front of the Education Board for review. If you are approved, you will be scheduled for the first available examination. You will then have three more failure attempts. If you are not approved a letter of denial will be sent out with an explanation by certified register mail.
There are no testing sites, how do I get the one I want?
Please contact ELSES upon registration as to what site you prefer. Their site is www.els-exam-reg.org . They are your testing vendor and will provide you with information concerning the testing procedure, the initial registration process and administering the examination.
I have not received my board approval card, what do I do?
First, make sure that your address did not change. If it has, immediately send an email to ppowell@fbpe.org with the correct information. If you have not received your board approval card 6 weeks before the schedule examination, please call at 850-521-0500 x26. There might be an issue or deficiency that needed corrected.
How do I get my Certification number?
Once you have passed your examination, if you have not already, have the school send in your final transcripts showing your degree and the date it was awarded. You should have it sent to FBPE, 2507 Callaway Road Suite 200, Tallahassee, Florida 32303. We will certify you within the week of receiving the transcripts. Certificates will be processed with 3 to 6 weeks. If you need to show proof of accomplishment and certification number, please go to www.myfloridalicense.com and download the information there for your employer.
